澳洲杰出研究计划（Excellence in Research for Australia, ERA），是澳洲第一个由联邦政府主导的官方大学排行榜。负责这项计划的是澳洲研究理事会（Australian Research Council）。

该排名总共划分22个专业领域，每个专业领域都按5分制进行评分。其中4分和5分表示高于世界平均水平，3分表示与世界平均水平不相上下，1分和2分都低于世界平均水平。最后再根据专业排名表现，得出总分。（或将4分、5分等称为四星或五星）

（2）优秀专业数（Strength）：The number of four and five scores. A score of four means "above world standard" while a score of five means "well above world standard"。也即四星专业和五星专业的加权总数。

（3）弱势专业数（Weakness）：The number of one and two scores. A score of two means "below world standard" and a score of one means "well below world standard".也即一星和二星专业的加权总数。

（4）专业总数（Breadth）：The number of fields showing research activity (maximum 22). In some fields of research, a given university may not have enough output to be assessed。该大学开设的专业领域总数。
